The Soul Medicine of Coming Home to Self and Each other
A Weekend Retreat with Kris Coffman and Teresa Hooker
May 7–10, 2026 | Whispertree Retreat Center, Boonville, CA | Cost: $1,300 - 2,500
A weekend of embodied rest, authentic community, deep remembering, and intentional exploration — for those sensing that the world is changing, and that we are being called to
grow in ways that cannot be done alone.
~ Small gathering. Intimate. Relational. Exquisite. ~
Why We’re Gathering
We are living in a time of rupture, a time marked by uncertainty, cultural unravelling, and the ache of disconnection.
And yet, beneath the surface, something older and wiser is calling us back into relationship: with our bodies, our communities, our ancestors, the earth, and the tender truths we carry within.
Reweaving Rest and Belonging ~ What You'll Experience :
Deep Rest (Dorsal Rest) — Restoration for a World on Fire
We tend to associate “rest” only with collapse, numbing, or checking out. But neuroscience offers another possibility: dorsal rest — a low-energy, deeply restorative state where the dorsal and ventral branches of the nervous system work together, allowing us to soften, digest, heal, and feel safe.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll have spacious, protected time for:
• Nesting & napping
• Hot tub soaking
• Mindful eating
• Gentle meditative movement
• Bodywork & somatic unwinding
• Cozy sensory rest (blankets, soft lighting, quiet)
• Reading, coloring, journaling, daydreaming
• Walks in the forest
• Bath rituals
• Time alone and time in quiet presence with others
Rest is not an interruption to this retreat — it is one of our core practices
Authentic Community & Relational Depth
We will practice showing up for ourselves and each other with courage, clarity, and compassion.
Components include:
• Opening Circle to arrive, share what you’re carrying, and orient to the field
• Exploration of boundaries, edges, and relational presence
• Practices for navigating conflict and expressing truth
• The ZEGG Forum — a powerful modality for communal witnessing, authenticity,
repair, and being seen
• Rituals of connection, belonging, grief, and ancestral remembering
• Evening cuddle gathering (non-sexual, fully consent-based, deeply nourishing)
• Opportunities for relational repair supported by facilitators
• Honoring each individual’s pacing, neurotype, and capacity
• Experiential learning about nervous system states through movement and shared encounters
This is a space where you can practice being real — messy, tender, courageous, quiet, expressive — within a community committed to holding one another with respect and care.
Mindfulness-Based Movement — Listening to the Body’s Deep Intelligence
Our bodies hold stories, tension, joy, and memory — often long before our minds can name them. Through gentle, trauma-informed movement practices, you’ll explore your inner landscape with curiosity rather than pressure.
Across the weekend, you’ll be guided into embodied experiences that help you:
• Sense and track your nervous system in real time
• Explore movement as a path to emotional clarity and authentic self-expression
• Feel how your body wants to speak, release, soften, or come alive
• Discover playful, soulful, and spacious ways to move energy
• Build capacity for connection by attuning to your own pacing and needs
No prior movement experience is needed — this is about presence, not performance. Your body leads; we accompany.
About Whispertree Retreat
In these pivotal times, a new story is emerging among humans, one that redefines our relationship with ourselves, each other and the Earth. Responding to lived experiences of disconnection and disillusionment, more people are seeking a slower pace of life, a deeper interest in embodiment/trauma-healing, novel approaches to economics and deeper engagement in social justice and spiritual inquiry. Inspired by the love rising out of these practices, people are choosing to be guided by new values in their day-to-day lives. Whispertree (formerly Bell Valley Retreat) is dedicated to individuals, groups and businesses seeking to write a new story for humanity — one that understands the value of a more sustainable, regenerative and reverent future.
Whispertree Retreat, nestled between two ridges, makes up a sub-watershed of the Navarro River, offering miles of trails and expansive, pristine views of Anderson Valley. Located 2.5 hrs from San Francisco and less than an hour inland from the Mendocino Coast, Whispertree benefits from being both remote and accessible to the Bay Area, an ideal destination and hidden-gem for those seeking natural beauty and a more grounded and sustainable pace of life.
